A major fire broke out in a paper godown located at 37 DC Day Road in Tengra, Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident was reported around 12:45 pm and six vehicles of the fire department rushed to the spot. The fire quickly spread due to the presence of a large amount of paper goods and inflammable materials in the godown.
The police team also reached the scene and evacuated people to safe places. The fire was brought under control around 2 pm by pouring water from all sides.
However, goods worth lakhs of rupees were gutted. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
